Dream UP, Build UP, Scale UP

Many ARM based “insert-fruit-name-here” Pi boards are available on the market, and they all look like the Raspberry Pi board to some extends, but thanks to AAEON and Emutex we got the “UP board” powered by Intel Atom x5-Z8300 and in Raspberry Pi form factor including the ubiquitous 40-pin Raspberry Pi headers, DSI and CSI connectors, and mostly the same port placements, with some extra goodies like a USB 3.0 port and Gigabit Ethernet.

UP is a platform designed for makers who intend to quickly Upscale their prototypes ideas into mass produced solutions.

Building on some of the best capabilities of existing maker boards in the market today, UP bridges the gap between the world of prototypes and the world of high-grade mass-produced embedded systems solutions.

Designed to embrace as many software developer communities as possible, UP runs Linux, Windows 10 and Android. UP users will be supported by an online community through www.up-board.org where tutorials and pro-active support forums will be available. The community will also provide a professional service where volume quantities of UP boards, including customized derivatives, can be requested and produced.

Up board is now on Kickstarter, where you can pledge 89 Euros including VAT. Support us!

ALL WORK, NO PLAY? BORING INDUSTRIAL PC PEOPLE?

Last week we held the AAEON Europe Channel Partner Conference in lovely and warm Marbella, Spain (you don’t hear me complaining). Our Channel Partners got the last training and insights into our products, roadmaps, and our IoT (Internet of Things) strategy. The conference center was at our hotel located in between two magnificent pools (and we were stuck inside…). It might be hard to believe (I’m still trying to convince my wife and kids…), but we did work hard, and it paid off for a very successful event.

After the event, we decided to enter into some fun & games, but no-one could be burdened to getting/buying some sports/game gear, so I decided we could use our downtime to put our rugged tablets to the test in a more fun way; mixing business with pleasure.

Below are a couple of video’s we shot to let you know, kind reader, that yes, it was nice and warm in Marbella and yes, our tablets are rugged.

Enjoy the video’s and check all the details on AAEON rugged tablets here

Our French colleague practices Kung Fu…thankfully he only hit the tablet…

Our MD can’t stop working….

In light of the current Rugby World Cup, we’d give it a go as well…
